District 5

District 5, also referred to as "D5", is an elite club mixed team based in New Haven CT. They placed 2nd at the 2010 USA Ultimate Club Championships.

The team name is a reference the team that would become known as the "Mighty Ducks" in the Disney film of the same name.

[edit] 2010 Season

The 2010 season was the first season together for District 5. They had many strong wins throughout the summer, winning several notable tournaments including Philly Invite, Emerald City Classic, and Chesapeake Open. Going into the USA Ultimate Club Series, many people had them as a favorite to win the USA Ultimate Club Championships.

In the Club Series, they went undefeated claiming the Metro New York Section title. They placed second at North East Regionals, with their only loss being a 15-4 blowout to regional rival Slow White in the finals.

District 5 earned a 2nd place seeding going into the USA Ultimate Club Championships. On day 1, they went 2-1 losing to the Polar Bears and earning a spot in the power pools for day 2. On day 2, defeated the defending WUCC Champions, The Chad Larson Experience but then lost to Drag'n Thrust. However, they performed well enough to move on to the quarterfinals. In the quarterfinals, they defeat Bucket 15-13 and would move on to face Drag'n Thrust in the semifinals. There they would avenge their loss from the previous day by winning 14-12. In the finals, they faced the Polar Bears again. Here they were out matched on lost 15-11.
