Hat Tournament

A "hat" tournament is an ultimate competition in which the teams are constructed of players who register individually.

The name "hat tournament" refers to a selection process where each player's name is written down and placed in a hat, and the teams are drawn randomly. Most hat tournaments don't do this anymore, instead preferring to create more balanced teams by taking players' experience and skill into account when forming the teams.
