A layout is a dive to get the disc.

Both offensive layouts and defensive layouts are possible.

Layouts at their best result in some very spectacular displays of aerial play making, at their worst they are examples of dangerous disregard for player safety, but frankly if a player is in anyway serious about thier ultimate they must make layouts often and 'awesome'.
