The Madison Ultimate Frisbee Association (MUFA) is based in Madison, WI.

Formed in 1993, it quickly made the map in the world of Ultimate when it hosted the 1993 World Flying Disc Federation Ultimate World Championships. Since that time it has grown to encompass thousands of members and now hosts four different leagues held year 'round. These leagues range from competitive to recreational, allowing all members to find their niche whether just beginning the sport or having played for years.

MUFA has also furthered the youth scene in and around Madison, seeing the formation of a high school league with as many as six to eight area schools competing.

All MUFA leagues follow the UPA Standard 11th edition rule book.

[edit] College

Alongside MUFA, the University of Wisconsin-Madison has a very successful Ultimate program. It's men's team, the Hodags, have won nationals three times in the past five years while finishing second in a fourth while the women's team, Bella Donna, has sent a team to nationals for many years.

The school is also home to a large spring intramural league where thousands of students compete in various levels of competition.

[edit] High School

For the past decade various high schools in the area have competed in a spring league organized and run by the Memorial High School Coach Dan Raabe. Mainstays in this league have been Memorial, West, Edgewood, and East while Middleton, Verona, and LaFollette have participated in many years as well. This league has produced many outstanding players that have gone on to play at the nationals level in college and club. Some of these players include two Callahan nominees in 2008, Matt Rebholz (Memorial) and Brandon Malacek (Edgewood), both of whom played for UW-Madison's men's team, Junior World's Nationals player Georgia Bosschier (West) and 2008 Women's Callahan winner Courtney Kiesow (Memorial), who both played for UW-Madison's women's team.
