In Ultimate, the stack is the line of lane cutters. The orientation of the stack is the defining characteristic for describing an offensive set - if the stack runs parallel to the sidelines it is a vertical offense, if the stack cuts across the field (parallel to the goal lines) then it is a horizontal offense.
